A former NCAA Division 1-AA All-American and three-time All-MEAC selection after transferring to Hampton from the University of Virginia, Charles Preston signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2000. He was allocated by the club to the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe for the 2000 season. He started every game for the Galaxy and led the club with 4.5 quarterback sacks. Later that year, Preston was selected by the Birmingham Bolts in the 49th round (386th overall) during the third day of the XFL Draft. Preston played in all ten games, starting seven, for the 2-8 Thunderbolts in 2001. He registered two quarterback sacks that season.
This Champion jersey was worn by Preston for the Bolts' road games in 2001. It features sewn on numbers and team logos. Preston's name has been sewn on to a nameplate, which has been sewn on to the jersey. This remnant from the long-dormant league has nice game use with four team repairs on the front and back of the jersey along with many scuffs and impact marks across the shoulders.
