Derrick Kelson was drafted by the New York Jets in the 11th round (279th overall) of the 1990 NFL Draft. He did not make the club and was released. He attended training camp in 1991 with the San Diego Chargers. In 1992, Kelson played for the Sacramento Surge of the World League of American Football where he wore this jersey and registered 1.5 quarterback sacks on the season. The jersey does have some evidence of game wear in the form of a few scattered hit marks on the shoulders. The following year, Kelson signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL and appeared in one game where he picked off a pass. He remained with the Tiger-Cats in 1994, playing in seven contests and recovering one fumble.
